Yahoo! C.O.R.E. data visualisation shows how Yahoo! content is analysed and personalised for users

Yahoo! now use an algorithm called C.O.R.E. to personalise home page content for individual users - everyday the Content Optimization Relevance Engine (C.O.R.E.) processing 2.2 billion pieces of content for Yahoo! users!

Every hour Yahoo! C.O.R.E. analyses 1.2 TB of feedback (the equivalent of 644,245,094 printed pages) and the effect of this has been to increase home page click through rate by 300% as visitors get to content more quickly and more easily.

A video to show C.O.R.E. at work has been shared through Flickr:

...and internet users can see C.O.R.E. at work for themselves at

C.O.R.E. is another great example of how data can be harnessed and processed to produce greater personalisation - and, through increased relevance / click through, greater performance too.

I wonder what the effect of all that data optimisation is having on the parts inside their hard drives :)
