Laplification - Northern Lights iPhone app capitalises on photo filtering trend

The Northern Lights / Aurora Borealis ia a major winter tourism driver for Arctic regions in the North of Europe and Visit Lapland have launched Laplification, a new photo filter app that brings the Northern Lights into everyday situations all year round!

The Laplification app allows iPhone users to add Northern Lights image filters to photos that they have taken and plays on the trend of image manipulation / customisation that has been popularised by apps like Instagram which now has over 50m users.  (I also like the clever play on words - Lapland+Amplification=Laplification...)

The video below shows how the Laplification app works:

and the Laplification app can be downloaded from the App Store here.

Sure there will be many more of this type of photo filtering app to come - enjoy!

This is really awesome! I'm really amazed by how app developers do these things, like the other day, my friend showed me this app developer in Melbourne and it's even better than what I expected!

I am due for an iPhone 5 next month as a bonus from my company. That will be my first app download. I fancy an Aurora display right at the top of our rooftop.
